Texas State offers a variety of education abroad destinations to students of all majors and areas of interest. If you are interested in an education abroad program, you should first visit with the Education Abroad Office. Once you have selected a program, it is important that you are prepared financially to travel overseas. For possible assistance in covering some of the costs, you may want to consider applying for financial aid.

  • The process to apply for financial aid for education abroad programs is the same as when taking courses on campus. To apply for financial aid, visit How to Apply.

  • To receive financial aid, you must meet certain eligibility requirements. To view these criteria, visit Eligibility to Apply.

  • Once we receive your completed education abroad documents from the Education Abroad Office, and once your financial aid file is complete with our office, we will begin the processing of your financial aid. The processing of your application (including determining your program costs and awarding you any aid for which you are eligible) may take four to six weeks. Once you have been awarded financial aid, we will send you an email notification.

Important Note: Please keep in mind that completing the financial aid process does not guarantee you a financial aid award. It is your responsibility to provide the necessary funds to cover your program costs.

  • Aid will not disburse until ten days prior to the start of your program. For more details about receiving your financial aid, visit Receive My Aid. To receive your refund faster, make sure to sign up for E-refunds through Student Business Services

  • The International Education Fee Scholarship is offered to students studying abroad. For more information, please visit the Education Abroad Office.
